In April 2022 Laura and I spend a week in a house near Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, overlooking the river Lot, near Cahors.
I photograph the view at our first stop on the way there, just past Metz.
Our hotel room in black and white.
Our second stop on the way there is near the Puy de Dôme.
Laura enjoys the hammock (actually more of a hammock chair) in the garden of our house.
On my slippers on the terrace (photo by Laura).
The leaves on the oaks are still young (also moss).
View over the valley from our pool.
Our garden and our house.
Irises grow in many places in the area and also in our garden.

It is too cold to swim, almost even too cold to paddle.

The river Lot.
Near Bouziès we walk on a towpath along the Lot, which is partly cut into the rock.

Overview of part of the towpath, with an old railway bridge in the distance.
Works of art have been carved into part of the wall.
Some areas are wet and slippery and moss is growing on the ceiling.

We visit the Gouffre de Padirac. This photo was taken from almost the bottom of a stalactite cave, the roof of which collapsed long ago.
We are transported by boat over an underground river to a large cave. These are basins with water that overflow into each other.
Basins and stalagmites.
View of the main room of the cave, which is 94 meters high.

I am served a mushroom dish in the shape of a large mushroom (photo by Laura).
In and around the village there is a dog who seems to own no one.
We go to see the caves of Pech Merle, where we are not allowed to take pictures of course. This photo of the entrance was taken by Laura. It is impressive to see such old drawings in real life.

After this week, Laura and I visit Vaumery in the Morvan for a week.
