Laura and I spend the last two weeks of 2023 in Juignac, Aquitaine, France. Over ten years earlier, in the summer, we were about sixty kilometers from here, in Augignac in the Dordogne.
On the way there we make a stopover in Cléry-Saint-André. This is the view from our hotel room. The doghouse on the left belongs to a dog who looks quite old, even though they keep wagging their tail enthusiastically.
Meung-sur-Loire, the village on the other side of the river, is decorated for Christmas.

Meung-sur-Loire. In 2019 we also made a stopover here on the way to our holiday address, and then I took this photo at this same spot.
En route. It looks like it has rained a lot here the last few days.

The living room, and a part of the kitchen and the mezzanine.
The weather is wet every now and then, something between mist, drizzle and light showers.
We take a walk. Sometimes the sun breaks through the clouds.

Three chickens scratch around the house (photo by Laura). One day, a chicken fleeing from a dog runs into our house and hides in our sofa. They are rescued by their owner.
Charmant is indeed a charming village (photo by Laura, taken from the car).

Me in Aubeterre-sur-Dronne. In the background is the entrance to a church carved into a rock and underground, originally from the seventh century (photo by Laura).
Laura underground, in the crypt. It echoes beautifully.
A reliquary in the church, six metres high and carved from a single piece of stone.
Gallery in the church, at a height of approximately fifteen metres.

Necropolis.
On New Year's Eve we take a walk in the area.
