In August 2018 Laura and I spend nine days in the Harz in Germany, near Neustadt/Harz.
Our house is in the forest. This is our terrace.
There are many hiking paths in the forest.
Laura in front of the large hospital in the village.
Many half-timbered houses and much colour in the village.
Gate at the edge of the village.
A hummingbird hawk-moth uses one of the flowers on our terrace as a place to rest.

There is a fox in a field along our hiking path, and he or she notices us.
The fox continues to hunt anyway.

"Oh Heimat, wie schön bist du?"
A steam train transports us on the Harzquerbahn, from Nordhausen to Benneckenstein.

Steam clouds and the smell of steam.
It's good to feel the wind on your face (photo by Laura).
It's a beautiful scenery.

Even without steam, trains are photogenic.
